Last Night of the Proms with the Hyde Rotary Club

The Last Night of the Proms. A capacity audience of 150 people attended this musical extravaganza last Saturday at the Oakland’s Hall in Hyde. The promenades arrived early dressed in union jack outfits with flags, banners and bowler hats to celebrate St George’s day and HRH the Queens 90th birthday.The Abney orchestra treated the audience to a wide ranging repertoire of music in the first set from the best of British musicals.In the second half the orchestra were joined on stage by classically trained Soloist Sarah Petrie who had everybody on their feet waving flags and banners and singing along to proms favourites Rule Britannia, Jerusalem, land of hope and glory and The National anthem.Commenting on the night event organiser Kevin Maddox Vice President Hyde Rotary Club said this is the second year we have organised this event, last year we raised enough funds to purchase a defibrillator for Hyde town centre this year all profits will go straight back into local community projects that the Rotary Club supports.
